Bollywood Songs | 8*10 Tasveer (2009)

Riding high on the success of "Fashion" and "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi", the musical duo of brothers Salim and Sulaiman Merchant are ready with the soundtrack of Akshay Kumar-starrer "8x10 Tasveer" and they seem to have brought together quite a different genre. They have also presented a mix of both fast-paced peppy numbers and free-flowing, soft melodies. The first song "Aaja maahi", crooned by Neeraj Shridhar and Tulsi Kumar, starts with a western feel and English lyrics. Even though the words lack punch, the song is melodious and worth listening. The remix version of this song adds nothing but beats to the original.

Up next is "Haafiz khuda", which has all the qualities to win listeners' hearts with its soulful, melodious music and free-flowing vocals by Mohit Chauhan. In this number, Mohit is joined by Tulsi Kumar behind the mike. The rendition is bound to make listeners sit up and take notice. "Haafiz khuda" too has a remixed version, but the original is more appealing. An Akshay Kumar film and a rap number seem to go hand in hand these days. After teaming up with Bohemia in "Chandni Chowk To China", the actor has shared vocals once again with the US-based hip-hop and rap star in "8X10 Tasveer". The song " I got the picture" is a peppy number with the same feel of the rap song in "Chandni Chowk...". The remix of the same track, which is high on beats, is sure to be a hit on the DJ consoles.

"Kuchh is tarah", which is once again in Mohit Chauhan's and Tulsi Kumar's voice, is a hummable number that pulls one's heart strings. Soothing to the ears, this romantic track brings out the best in Chauhan. The remix version too doesn't disappoint with appropriate musical arrangements.

Easily the best song of the album, "Nazaara hai" sets the adrenalin pumping with its strong musical backing and powerful vocals by Vishal Dadlani of the composer duo Vishal and Shekhar. The number is soaked in the flavour of rock music. The predominance of the electric guitar, especially in the middle of the song, makes it a sure shot hit with music buffs. The remix of "Nazaara hai" is average, nowhere close to the original. On the whole, Salim-Sulaiman have kept up their good work in "8x10 Tasveer" and are definitely emerging as one of the best in the business.

Slumdog Millionaire is the multi-Oscar winning film (8 Oscar, to be exact) directed by the British director Danny Boyle. But you already know that. How could you not! It's all over the news these days. However, I am ashamed to say I haven't watched it yet. The film is about Jamal Malik (Dev Patel) who grew up in the slums, becomes a contestant on "Kaun Banega Crorepati?". Other major roles in the film are played by Freida Pinto, Anil Kapoor, Irfan Khan, Madhur Mittal, Ayush Mahesh Khedekar and Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail.The spectacular music of Slumdog Millionaire is composed by A. R. Rehman who won two Oscars (for best music and best song, Jai Ho). I don't need to tell you how good the music is. It's so obvious.

Harman Baweja's latest film is Love Story 2050 and, as the name suggests, is a sci-fi and set in the future, in 2050 to be more specific. The protagonists, Karan (Harman Baweja) and Sana (Priyanka Chopra) travel to the future using a time machine built by Dr. Yatinder Khanna (Boman Irani). It's full of special effects. Even though it has been criticized for being amateurish and waste of the huge Rs. 500 million, I give credit to Harry for trying something different. Bollywood seriously needs to make something besides the lame and mindless comedies. Not that they aren't producing any good films, however there's been only a few every year. Music of Love Story is directed by Anu Malik.

Billu Barber is directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Gauri Khan under the Red Chillies Entertainment banner. It tells the story of a barber Bilas Rao Pardesi (Irfan Khan) who lives in his village with his wife Bindiya (Lara Dutta) and two kids. When superstar Sahir Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) comes to their village to shoot a film, Billas/Billu tells people that he and Sahir are childhood friends for which he is ridiculed. The films also stars Om Puri, Rajpal Yadav and Asrani, as well as guest appearances by Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka Chopra in item numbers. Bollywood Songs | Fashion (2008)

Fashion is, as the title suggests, a film about the dark secrets what goes on in the fashion industry. The film follows the lives of Meghna Mathur (Priyanka Chopra), a girl from a small town who aspires to become a supermodel in Mumbai, and Shonali Gujral (Kangana Ranaut), a former successful supermodel who is facing downfall. These characters are based on real life supermodels. The film is directed by Madhur Bhandarkar and also stars real life model Mugdha Godse who was a semi-finalist at the Miss India 2004, Arbaaz Khan and Samir Soni.

The music of Fashion is composed by the Merchant brothers, Salim and Sulaiman. The songs seems to be pretty well liked as so many of you have already asked me for them. I personally only like Mar jawaa, I might like the rest after a viewing of the movie. The songs are in MP3 format. Enjoy!

Warner Bros. Pictures's second Bollywood film, Chandni Chowk To China, is directed by Nikhil Advani (Kal Ho Naa Ho, Salaam-e-Ishq) and stars Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Ranvir Shore and famous Chinese actor Gordon Liu. The trailers looks beautiful, check it out. This is something all big budget Bollywood action films should strive for. I'm putting this in the 2009 category because the movie will be released on January 16, 2009. Don't forget to watch it, it's going to be great.Music of Chandni Chowk is composed by a multitude of music directors: the trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Kailash Kher and Bappi Lahiri. The music for Raaz - The Mystery Continues (a.k.a Raaz 2) is released, here are the songs some of you have been wanting so much :D. As they keep claiming, The Mystery Continues is not a sequel to the 2002 film Raaz. It follows a completely different storyline. It is directed by Mohit Suri and stars Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut and Adhyayan Suman in lead roles. I don't think I need to say this, right?.... that it's a horror movie?

Music of the movie is directed by new comers Raju Singh, Pranay M Rijia, Toshi Sabri and Gaurav Das who replaced Pritam, who replaced Neem-Sharavan. I haven't given the songs a listen yet, so I don't have anything to say except, ENJOY!!

Bollywood songs | Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008)

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is Shahrukh Khan's only film for 2008 (not considering his guest appearances in Krazzy 4 and Bhoothnath). The film is about a not-so-happy couple, Surinder Sahni(SRK) and Taani (Anushka Sharma), who find true love while participating in a reality dance show called "Dancing Jodi". The film is written and directed by Aditya Chopra, and features Vinay Pathak, Anupam Kher and Farida Jalal in side roles. There are also guest appearances by Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta and Priyanka Chopra.

Music of RNBDJ is composed by the Salim and Sulaiman Merchant. I hope you like them.
